Training courses and certificates

We provide training courses based on the documents and webinars of HL7 International (English). After each training course, you have the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized HL7 certificate. The certificate examinations are held either on site at an HL7 Workgroup Meeting (WGM) or online.

Special offer via HL7 Austria

The HL7 Fundamentals eLearning course must be completed with the English documents from HL7 International. In addition, our colleagues from HL7 Austria offer our Swiss members the opportunity to have their questions answered by German-speaking experts from HL7 Austria in the eLearning forums at special conditions (URL see below).

There are different approaches

HL7 Fundamentals (eLearning course)

This eLearning course is very popular and takes place several times a year over a period of several weeks once a week. It is given exclusively via webinars and in English. This is an introduction to HL7 that requires no preparation. You will receive a certificate at the end of the course without an exam. Certified HL7 Version 2.7 Control Specialist, RIM Modeller and CDA Specialist

Various options are also offered here.

a) Self-study preparation and the option of taking the certificate exam
There is a lot of commercial literature and free documents on the Internet that are suitable for preparing for the certificate examination.

b) Preparation through online tutorials with the option of taking the certificate exam
You can register for the fee-based webinars at http://goo.gl/VDY6w6 in the HL7 eLearning Center.

c) Preparation through tutorials at a workgroup meeting with the opportunity to take the certificate exam on site - or online
The voluntary certificate examination can be taken either online or at an HL7 Workgroup Meeting. You can register for the exams via the same hl7.org link as above.

Our recommendation

Experience has shown that the preparatory tutorials at the WGM are of high quality and are the best way to acquire the necessary knowledge and, if necessary, to pass the certificate exam. The tutors are always those who have actively worked on the standard over a long period of time. The corresponding tutorials that are offered follow the scheme:

• Introduction to V2 / V3_RIM / CDA (100.- USD)
• Advanced V2 / V3_RIM / CDA (100.- USD)
• Certification Preparation for V2 / V3_RIM / CDA (100.- USD)

The exam at the end of the week lasts two hours and costs another 200.- USD. So for a moderate USD 500 you get top HL7 training with certification.

We generally recommend that you take the certificate exams!
The certificates prove your HL7 expertise and thus increase your value on the job market. So it's definitely worth it.
